Vintage Butterflies

Today's Featured Stamper at Splitcoaststampers is Laura O Donnell and I created this card based on her beautiful card found HERE.
I used Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Vintage Postcard set for the main panel and the New Beginnings set for the butterflies.  They were cut using the coordinating butterfly dies.
All edges have been distressed with Ranger Distress Scattered Straw and I used the same ink to sponge the cream rose so that it would match the dp.

Butterfly Crazy

Lately I've been finding it hard to make a card NOT using Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps New Beginnings set!  The three butterflies in various sizes with coordinating dies are so easy to use, not to mention such a variety of sentiments which can be mixed and matched.
For today's card I lightly sponged a cream shimmer card base with Ranger Distress Scattered Straw ink. I used SNSS's Lacey Eyelet border die, which is cut in half so that there's just a hint of lace peeking out behind the dp strip.
In order to give the twine more definition against the dp, I stretched it across a thin strip of cream card.  The finishing touches are some green flourishes and a rich red rose.
Wishing you a great weekend, hopefully including a little bit of crafty time!

Butterfly Trio

Today's Queen for the Day at Splitcoaststampers is my sweet friend Roberta or stampin'nana.
It was a pleasure to honor Roberta with a CASE of her lovely maple leaf card found here.  I changed the leaves to butterflies using Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps New Beginnings set with the coordinating dies.  The bg is masked with post-it-notes and speckled with black ink and a toothbrush.  The butterfly wings were curled around a paintbrush handle before being popped up on a black flourish.

An Open Door

I'm hosting the Featured Stamper challenge at Splitcoaststampers today and we're honoring Emily Keaton, aka ejkeaton this week.  Emily is hugely talented and has a wonderful gallery - I based my card on her butterfly card, but changed it into a square card with a slightly different style.
I used Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps New Beginnings set and matching New Beginnings Butterflies die set. It's so easy to color and cut out these butterflies and my friend Dina Kowal gave me a tip for using dies with matching stamp sets so that they cut out perfectly.
Use your die to cut an extra shape from a piece of light cardstock and then place the negative piece perfectly over the stamped image, securing the outside edge with tape.  Then, as Dina puts it, "snug" the die back into the cut out shape, and put it back through your cutting device.  You can use a little piece of tape for that also but I've found it's usually not necessary.  The stamped image cuts with perfectly even edges.
Thank you, Dina, mf!
Right now I'm praying that God will open a door in the life of a loved one to make up for the pain of a recently closed one, so this is the sentiment I chose from a number of really encouraging ones in the New Beginnings set.

Under His Wings

It's been a while since I've posted - I haven't been myself and even making a simple card seems to take so much energy.  However, this sentiment is so encouraging, it did my heart good to think about it while I made it.  I used Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Under His Wings set, masking the bird and sponging a background with Ranger Distress Broken China ink.  The sentiment is stamped with Versafine Black Onyx.
To highlight the words about God's love I used a pair of heart pins along with some twill ribbon which was wrapped around tea towels which someone gave me as a present.

Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps June Release Blog Hop

Hello, and welcome to the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps June Release Blog Hop!  As always, I think you'll be delighted with the new  products and you'll find a lot of fun inspiration with what the DT have come up with today too!

My first card is made with the new set Under His Wings - what a wonderful image which is easy to color with shading already done for you and a beautiful script background.
The sentiments include encouraging Bible verses about being under the protective and loving wings of God.
I also used the Light of Christmas script bg on the kraft card base.  I masked the bird to sponge a teal ink background.  My little bird may not be a typical one you'd see in your yard or garden but I think it has a little bit of an exotic look!
All edges have been distressed with SU's Soft Suede ink, and I finished with a twine bow and button.
Supplies include:
Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Under His Wings
Kraft cardstock
SU Taken with Teal, Lucky Limeade cardstock
Cheery Lynn Designs Fanciful Flourish die
Spellbinders Nestabilities Circles
Twine
October Afternoon buttons
Copics
SU Soft Suede ink
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Echo Park Dots and Stripes dp

The butterflies in the set New Beginnings are going to be an absolute favorite with me, especially with the matching die set!  I love the sharp, crisp image they create and how the die-cut butterflies add so much dimension.
I used a Sizzix embossing folder for the background panel and stamped one of the beautiful sentiments from the set on the upper half.  All the sentiments in this set have encouraging and meaningful words and quotes about change and new beginnings.
I added a Memory Box vine in black along the bottom and pearl accents, trying to leave enough white space to keep a somewhat clean and simple look.

Back soon!

I'm just popping in to say I'll be back soon...I had to pack up a lot of my stamping stuff while we had some work done on our house and now there is illness in the family, so I've been unable to stamp.  I look forward to getting back in the saddle soon, in fact there's a Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps blog hop coming up on Thursday with fantastic releases for the month of June.  Hopefully you'll be able to drop by!
