Sweet Peek - Reading Bethany

Maybe because I was a little girl with her nose always in a book, this sweet image really appeals to me!  Now I'm a big girl with my nose in a book when I have the time!   This is a Sweet Peek of a darling stamp being released on July 1st at Sweet and Sassy Stamps called Reading Bethany.
I colored Bethany with copics and created a sky with a cloud cut using a Papertrey Ink cloud die and SU's Cool Caribbean ink.  The book was cut using Spellbinders Labels Seven and I computer generated the text bg similar to some October Afternoon paper I had at one stage and really loved.  The sentiment is also computer generated based on what some of my friends and I often say about one another!  All edges were distressed with Ranger Distress Antique Linen.

Sweet Peek - Your Friendship

I fell in love with these flowers when I first saw this brand new set being release by Sweet and Sassy Stamps on July 1st called Your Friendship.  This fabulous set includes seven wonderful sentiments about friendship along with three flowers in different sizes plus leaves.  I can think of so many possibilities with this set and I know I'll use it over and over again!  I colored the flowers with copics and popped them up in layers adding button centers.  I added a border with a black fine line marker and twine to the main panel after framing in black.  The gingham dp is from Stampin Up. You can find a whole array of twine in beautiful colors at  Sweet and Sassy Stamps.

Lacey Rose

I made this card for today's color challenge at SCS including Stampin Up's Night of Navy, Crumb Cake (kraft) and Cherry Cobbler.  I started out intending to make a CAS card - I'm packing to go and visit my family in Minnesota and Alaska and will be gone for five weeks and there's plenty to do, so simple seemed like a good idea!  Then I decided to add lace and one thing led to another!  This beautiful flower is from a set called Rose Blossom at Sweet and Sassy Stamps.   I colored the rose with copics and popped it up on circles cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities - the top circle is sponged with Ranger Distress Antique Linen.  This Rose Blossom set includes four beautiful sentiments about friendship and roses!

Sweet Abby

This is for the sketch challenge at SCS today hosted by Korin of Sweet and Sassy Stamps - I used a SNSS digi called Abby's Birdhouse along with some bright dp's from Echo Park's A Walk in the Park.  I colored Abby with copics and popped her up on an oval cut with Spellbinders and used buttons and twine to finish.  The cardstock is SU's Taken with Teal.  I haven't yet decided what I'm going to use this card for so I'll add a sentiment later when the need arises!  Abby will sit here and cheer me up with her cute little smile in the mean time!

Cocoa Gift Bag and Mini Card

Hello! Today I want to share with you a very girlie gift bag and matching mini card – I plan to fill this with little gifts like flip flops, sunglasses, and a great book for a summer birthday!
I started altering a plain bright pink gift bag by taking out the string handle and adding a strip of green and dp along the top using a Martha Stewart scallops punch. I used Stampin Up’s flower eyelets in the holes and added yellow ribbon for the handles instead.
I don’t often use such bright colors but I was going for a summer neon look!  The dp is Echo Park's Summer Days and the cardstock is from Stampin Up including Yoyo Yellow, Green Galore, Melon Mambo.
I also used MFT’s small scallops Die-namic and Spellbinders Circles and Lacey Circles.
The flip flops were created with a little template I made and I added yellow eyelets, ribbon, flowers and brads to decorate them.
The cute images from Beach Bum Cocoa set were colored with copics and the sky was sponged with SU’s Cool Caribbean using a cloud cut with Papertrey Ink’s cloud die.
The purple twine is from The Twinery but you can now find a selection of beautiful colors of twine at Sweet and Sassy Stamps!
You can also use the Cocoa images to stamp repeatedly and randomly on the tissue paper inside the bag for a totally coordinated look!
Have a great weekend, Bridget

Vintage Yellow Rose

This lovely rose from Sweet and Sassy Stamps Rose Blossom set put me in the mood for the vintage look!  All edges have been sponged with Ranger Distress Antique Linen ink to help achieve that!  I also used vintage Graphic 45 dp, SU ribbon, pearls, MFT's faux crochet Die-namic, Spellbinders Nestabilities Ovals, and Petite Ovals.  The image has been colored with copics.  I like to aim for a "buried in a trunk in Grandma's attic" look on cards like these, though I still struggle with edge distressing - after all those years of trying to keep my book pages, papers, etc. nice, clean, and uncreased, I have to cross a mental barrier to purposely "mess it up"!
A tip for adding ribbon over various layers - in order to keep lumps, bumps and lines from showing when attaching ribbon over die cuts, I cut a small strip of card just a hair smaller than the width of the card and slightly smaller than the width of the ribbon, then attach the ribbon onto the strip with double sided tape, tucking the ends of the ribbon behind the strip.  I then attach the strip to the card.  Another advantage to this method is neater ribbon edges.
